Relief Work

Steve and I are in Mississippi this week doing some Katrina relief, and let me tell you!! It's nice down here! I'm not looking forward to coming back to cold and snow. When we tell the residents down here about what it is like in Michigan, they wonder what we are thinking living there. I tell them I'm not sure either.

On these mission trips, sometimes there are pranks that get pulled. This week, the running joke is that John Venema's air mattress has a "hole" in it. Everytime he leaves his bed, or his room, someone lets a little air out of his mattress. Steve even got up one night and let some out when he heard him go to the bathroom! The lengths we will go for a joke around here! I wonder what he will think when he finds out that the "hole" in the mattress has a name!

We also are doing some good things too! Steve's crew is working on finishing up a bathroom. That's pretty much the last thing in that house until the lady can get back in! That's incentive for him to finish it up quick! Another crew is in just a skeleton of a house, it's practically just bare studs! All the wiring and plumbing was finished monday and tuesday, and now they are starting to drywall. The man whose house it is is amazed at how much work is getting done! There's another crew who is mudding drywall and painting the inside of the house, and one more that is putting in windows and the countertop and then that house will be close to done! We are doing some great work down here!

I'm in the kitchen most of the time, but I'm also just taking it easy, cause I only have 5 weeks to go. I don't need anything to send me into labor down here! I did drop a bit though, I can tell! It's getting a little easier to breath, so that is nice! Well, tonight is Prime Rib and they need my help. More updates later!!
